Welcome!

I’m Matt, and I’m WILD about Washington State.

And I think you will be too, once you’ve experienced this beautiful state for yourself.

I love Washington State – the cities, the natural beauty, the bounty of amazing food and drinks – and think you will too.

Let me start by asking you a question.

Have you ever tried searching for a travel guide – the best hikes, a road trip guide, or a weekend itinerary – clicked on the first three articles on Google, and realized that they’re all basically a re-write of each other?

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too.

When I’m planning travel, I want a local (or an expert) to tell us what’s worthwhile, what’s not, and we want to hear it in their own words. Bonus points for a little bit of personality thrown in for good measure.

I want to know their opinions on the things in their guides. If you’re writing about the best things to do in a city, it should actually be the BEST things to do, not just a never-ending list of things you COULD do.

Here at Wild About Washington, I’m bringing you the insider knowledge you need to plan your trip to Washington State, all in one place.

But, Like, Who Are You?

My name is Matt, and I grew up in the Seattle area. I’m here to help you plan the perfect Washington adventure using my experiences exploring the state, from the mountains, to the islands, to the rainforests, and everything in between.

A lot of travel sites focus on the people behind the site. Here, I want to keep the focus on YOU.

However, I also write our guides from a first-person perspective so that you can get the important opinions and insider knowledge that I know is the difference between a good trip and a great trip.

Think of the personal anecdotes and recommendations as something that’s in service of the broader goal – to help you plan an AMAZING trip to Washington.
